Agent of Socialization
I can say that the most effective agent of socialization is mass media. Nowadays, we are so bombarded with different cultures and ideas about society through its amplification by mass media. The tv, internet, radio, newspapers, music, arts - every single form of advertisement, expression or information technology stirs complex and eclectic views on socialization, and society itself. The advancement of communication technology has reached very far that we find it so easy to build a network of colleagues and friends with common interests through blogging, social networking sites, instant messaging, and through mobile devices. Societal turmoils, political conflicts and economic issues are also discussed, argued and criticized through these venues (mass media) and by that, a complex system of ideas, cultures and subcultures is created that greatly affects the way we, especially the youth today, think and how we find our own way through modern society.
